Kennards Hire is proud to have partnered with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to support the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, NSW, with the donation of three Babytherm 8010 Open Care Warmers.

The Babytherm 8010 Open Care Warmers are highly specialised, mobile intensive care units that simulate the protective and nurturing conditions of the womb. With the ability to regulate heat and humidity, these devices create a stable, quiet environment that fosters the development and growth of vulnerable babies, particularly those undergoing surgery or receiving complex treatments. This equipment is crucial for safeguarding newborns from temperature fluctuations, infections, and other external stresses and play an essential role in maintaining the safe body temperature of critically ill infants.

For Kennards Hire’s General Manager of Marketing & Customer Experience, Manelle Merhi, the donation was deeply personal.

“A few short years ago, my twin boys were born as 26-week preemies, and I experienced firsthand the incredible care provided by the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” Manelle shared.

“Being on the other side of that journey and having the opportunity to represent Kennards Hire in donating this lifesaving equipment was an emotional and meaningful moment for me.”

Professor Nadia Badawi AM, Medical Director and Co-Head of the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation.

"The Babytherm 8010 is a vital addition to our care, ensuring the most vulnerable babies receive the best possible treatment. This equipment complements the dedication and expertise of our team, helping us provide the highest standard of care for over 600 premature and critically ill infants each year."

Claire Reaney, CEO & Managing Director of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, emphasised the impact of the donation. "We are thrilled to partner with Kennards Hire in providing the Babytherm 8010 Open Care Warmers. These state-of-the-art units will directly contribute to improving the health outcomes of newborns across New South Wales, helping to ensure they receive the specialised care they need."

In 2024, through the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Kennards Hire donated 12 pieces of lifesaving medical equipment to hospitals across Australia, including:

    • A Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System to Bendigo Hospital (Victoria) and Gold Coast University Hospital (Queensland)
    • A 950 Humidification System to Royal Darwin Hospital (Northern Territory)
    • An Astodia Diaphanoscope to Rockingham General Hospital (Western Australia)

Together, Kennards Hire and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation continue to lift up communities by ensuring hospitals have the essential equipment to care for those who need it most.
