At Kennards Hire, giving back isn’t just something we do, it’s at the core of who we are as a family business and aligned with our One Family and Fair Dinkum values.
We care for our mates, collaborate to achieve our goals, and support one another every step of the way. That commitment extends to the communities we’re a part of, as we believe uplifting each other helps us all grow stronger together.
For nearly two decades, our Western Australian teams have proudly supported Life Cycle for CanTeen, an all-volunteer charity that raises vital funds to help young people impacted by cancer. Since 2007, we’ve provided trailers and portable toilets free of charge three times a year. By covering the cost of hire, we’re enabling Life Cycle for CanTeen to direct more funds straight to CanTeen WA, supporting programs like counselling, leadership training, day and overnight camps, and online services for young people aged 12 to 25 navigating their cancer journey.
For over 5 years, our Girraween team have supported the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation with the donation of vehicles for events such as City2Surf, Walk for Kids with Cancer, Christmas appeals, Emerald Ball and many more. The vans and trucks donated by the branch have been an integral part of transporting event equipment to and from these events, helping reduce costs and ensuring more funds go directly towards delivering world-class care for sick and injured children.
Our Windsor and Kellyville branch teams have been supporting the Gazelles Netball Club for the last four years by partnering as major sponsor and providing free or discounted equipment for their events.
The branches contribution allows the club, which is largely run by parents and volunteers, to keep operating, giving young girls the chance to participate in local sport, develop their skills and socialise with others in their community.
For the past two years, we have teamed up with Sydney FC and our Kennards Hire Foundation to give disadvantaged youth an experience to remember with our Kennards Hire Kids Bay.
Over 60 guests from non-profit partners including The Smith Family, Stepping Stone House, BackTrack and KidsXpress came to Allianz Stadium for an unforgettable afternoon of football, fun, and connection.
Through partnerships like these, we aim to champion community spirit one kick, cheer, and smile at a time.
For the past three years, we have proudly been a major sponsor of the June Bowls Tournament at the Geraldton Bowling Club, with our commitment already extended through 2026. The event attracts players from across Western Australia, from as far south as Esperance to as far north as Karratha. In addition to our sponsorship, we’ve also supported the club through in-kind equipment donations to help upgrade their greens and car park facilities.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re exploring new ways to grow this initiative, including the potential design of custom football jumpers in partnership with The Shaka Project, further promoting positive conversations around mental health within our sporting and local communities.
Hutt St Centre helps people facing homelessness to rebuild their lives, without judgement. Each year they serve around 40,000 meals and offers social work and support services to nearly 2,000 people.
Our South Australian team have been supporting The Hutt Street Centre in Adelaide for many years and there has never been a more urgent need to provide nourishing meals, laundry facilities, medical care, and hot showers to help people doing it tough in the community. That’s why our South Australian team were there during National Homeless Week for the annual Walk a Mile in My Boots event. Together with over 2,000 others they helped to raised $558,489 with funds going to support over 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
It takes the support of an entire community to end homelessness.
When QLD experienced disastrous flooding in 2022, our staff were in the think of it with Indooroopilly and Rocklea branches needing to be evacuated and many of our crew volunteering to help keep the waters at bay as well as cleaning up the mess after it.
One example of quick response on the frontline comes from our team in Brisbane. With floodwaters rapidly rising at the riverside restaurant precinct, we were able to organise some serious pumps for us at Howard Smith Wharves at short notice. The water had risen to fill the car park’s B2 level, cutting the power switches housed there but the team were there with two pumps within the hour and when all was set up, they were pumping 180 to 190 litres of water out per second. With service at the heart of what we are about, and a spirit of collaboration within the company we are able to work together and lift up communities in need.
